Advanced Academy 03/4 Boys Win 2017 Firecracker

After 4 weeks of pre-season training, Eagleclaw FC's Advanced Academy Boys 03/4 has its first trophy! The team traveled to Burlington for the Skagit Firecracker Tournament hosted by Northwest United FC. The boys put on an impressive performance, winning three of four games, including the Final, by an aggregate score of 10-3.

Winning the tournament trophy put an exclamation mark at the end of a challenging pre-season training period that required the boys to learn how to play Eagleclaw's Spanish-inspired "Positional Play" style and learn how to compete as a hybrid-aged team against players who were physically bigger and stronger than them. In the end, Eagleclaw's possession style of play and emphasis on game intelligence won the day!

"We maintained our objective of encouraging the players not to worry about making mistakes." said Head Coach Matthew Olson. "The players showed they were not fearful to stick their necks out when the games became intense. We saw how Eagleclaw's rondo-based training laid a solid foundation giving our players confidence to pass and maintain possession of the ball under pressure, while at the same time allowing our technical creativity to shine."

Next up for the team is a week-long team training camp with the Spanish coaching staff from Valencia CF's Academy.
