Eagleclaw's M07 Nighthawks Development Team are 2018 Washington Cup Champions, capping off their tournament run with a thrilling victory in the Finals over Cascade Soccer Club. It was a tough match, to be sure. Eagleclaw appeared more dominant, controlling the majority of possession, created the most chances to score and keeping play largely in Cascade's half. However, Cascade defended extremely well with energy and purpose, keeping the game scoreless.
At the end of regulation, the teams played 10 minutes of extra time where a "Golden Goal" would have ended the game. Eagleclaw kept pressing for the goal and had many chances, but it never came.
It all came down to a penalty shoot-out. Both teams scored and missed goals, but in the end clutch saves by Eagleclaw's keeper, Quinlan Vorenkamp, made the difference as Eagleclaw prevailed in the shootout 3-2.
On their way to the Championship, Eagleclaw defeated Shoreline Sports Club B07 (4-2), Celtic B07 White (5-0), NPSA B07 White Bellevue (9-2), TC United B07 Navy (4-0)
